Playing Not Praying

Is. 59:12-15

Here we sit in this meeting and our nation, churches families are on the brink, no edge of destruction.  We have allowed the sins of the past to be come such as to now be in the church.  Now my prayer is that you came here tonight to hear some preaching, to hear what the Bible says, to hear what you can and must do to bring about the Revival that we so desperately need.  I know there are some churches doing ok, but should ok be ok.  Should we not want the church results of the first century church.  Even if it takes persecution to get us there. Christians, Baptist, true believers in God and Jesus Christ as Saviuor, we must awaken we must be revived we must, again care more about what God thinks of us than what man thinks.

I.    Transgressions, (Fault; offense; crime)

a.     Rejecting Christ and hiding His Word from the world.

1.      The Bible, “Ye do errnot knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” Matt. 22:29

2.      Prayer, the Prayer meeting of yesterday must return, not: youth meetings, Bible studies, fellowships, etc. I Thes. 5:17 & 25, Joel 1:3  “Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation"

3.      Church, Heb. 10:25, lack of church attendance starts the down hill slide into apostasy. Look around you here, your church, every gospel preaching church is seeing it.  The problem had already started in Paul’s day.

4.      Witnessing / Testimony, Is. 3:9, it is said of Gandhi that there came a time in his life that he had to choose between Christianity and Hinduism.  He said that if the way Christians lived compared to what Christ teachings were then he would become a Hindu

 5.      Tithes and offerings. Mal. 3:8, Robbery is taking by force that which belongs to another, Webster said, To withhold what is due.

II.                Sins:

a.Commission

 i.      List

b.Omission

i.      List:

III.             Iniquities

a.     “WE KNOW THEM”, our injustices, our wrong against God our Back-sliden ways and we dare call ourselves Christ Like.

b.    Our procrastination is glaring, how often do we tell others about what we think is needed but fail it do it ourselves.

c.     Our itching ears, soothed by our itching preacher, soothed by our itching society.

We have kicked the Gospel out of the Church into the street and replaced it with worldly thought, we fall for pop psychology, self improvement seminars, and entertainment.  It is time we stopped playing church and started be what Christ wants us to be.  We play/pretend at being saved, we play/pretend confession of sin, we play/pretend at church membership, we play/pretend at our service to Christ, It is time to quit playing and start praying: ”Oh Lord show me what I must and You would have me do, Oh Lord Give Us Revival.”
